Preaching is his gift, but Pastor Dave Stone's family is his life's blessing. And after raising three kids of his own, as well as shepherding the diverse families of his congregation, his heart and passion for building strong families rings louder than ever. He knows that raising faithful families is a key to the future of the church.
My Review: I love books that enforce the family unit and gives us guidance and scriptural reference to apply to our lives. Dave Stone has written a wonderful book that truly enforces the family unit, whether a small family, a single parent family or even a blended family Dave hits the nail on the head bringing our families together.
My husband and I have never allowed electronics at our kitchen table. The kitchen table is place to break bread as a family, thus, allowing each member to talk and interact over the bread of substance and the Bread of Life. I love what he says on page 84, "And let me challenge you make the dinner table a technology free zone. Our culture feeds the false premise that the earth will stop rotating if the tweet isn't read or that text isn't answered." OH!SO!TRUE! Don't be sucked into letting the world take over your family.
In chapter 9, Dave writes about Servant Power. Encouraging families to give...Random Acts on Purpose. "When service emerges, selfishness evaporates." Love, love this!
This is an absolutely wonderful read! A great gift book for the family that may need an encouraging stepping stone or a great mother's/father's day gift.
Let's build families for God's kingdom!
