Unending Devotion by Jody Hedlund

Book Description:  Michigan, 1883
In Her Darkest Hours, Is He the Man She Needs?
Lily Young longs to find her lost sister or will die trying. Heedless of any danger, she searches logging camps and towns, posing as a photographer's assistant. And then she arrives in Harrison, Michigan--and the sights of Connell McCormick.Connell is determined to increase the fortune of his lumber-baron father and figures as long as he's living an upright life, that's what matters. But when Lily arrives in town she upends his world, forcing him to confront the truth that dangerous men have gained too much power while good men turn a blind eye.Vexing but persuasive, Lily soon secures Connell's help, drawing them ever closer to each other. Will standing for what's right cost them both everything?

My Thoughts:  Lily is posing as a photographer's assistant, a way for a young lady to travel safely.  As she travels she is always on the look out for her young sister, Daisy.
"Curse the men who think women are no better than cattle,"  Lily muttered as she placed a coat around Edith.  Lily had seen Edith in the tavern when she was searching for her sister.  Lily knew the minute that she laid on Edith that she was miserable and needed out!  So, Lily is determined and helps Edith escape a life of prostitution with the help of her friend Oren.
Then when Lily is about to be accosted by some rough lumber men Connell comes to her rescue only to be almost beaten to death by Oren who thinks Connell is the bad guy!
Oren may be an old boat man but he's as strong as an ox!  So, this how Connell and Lily meet!  And Oren not only scared Connell but all the men in the tavern knew to leave Lily alone or suffer from Oren's wrath!
Connell and Lily both are determined to help others.  Connell is intrigued by Lily and her faith.  Connell figures he's a good man, living righteously but Lily makes him take a second look at his life!
This is a great-tatic historical romance!  Lily is strong but as she finds out God is in control and He takes care of her as she seeks to find her sister, Daisy!
This is a good feel story!  A great great for any day of the week but especially great for a long winter's day!

Meet the Author:
Jody Hedlund is an award-winning author of inspirational historical romances, including the best-selling historical, The Preacher's Bride.

As a busy mama-writer, she has the wonderful privilege of teaching her crew of 5 children at home. In between grading math papers and giving spelling tests, she occasionally does a load of laundry and washes dishes. When she's not busy being a mama, you can find her in front of her laptop. Sometimes her family thinks her fingers are super-glued to the keyboard, but in reality she usually finds her writing time in the wee hours of the morning and then for a couple of hours in the afternoon when done with school. She views writing as God's gift to her--a creative outlet that helps bring fresh energy to her parenting.

She's living testimony that amidst the crazy chaos of running a large family, it's still possible to squeeze in time for writing and fulfill the dream of publication. She chronicles both the joys and difficulties of her journey toward publication on her blog, Author Jody Hedlund: http://jodyhedlund.blogspot.com/
