Unforeseeable {Road To Kingdom, book 3} by Nancy Mehl

Book Description: Callie Hoffman has a good life in Kingdom, Kansas. She's engaged to Levi Housler, the new pastor of Kingdom Mennonite Church, and she spends her days working with Lizzie Housler, her friend and soon-to-be sister-in-law, at the town cafe. 

When a body is discovered on the road outside Kingdom and the deceased turns out to be the victim of a serial killer, the new county sheriff begins questioning Kingdom residents. Unsettled at the prospect of a killer in Kingdom, Callie is desperate to find answers for herself, especially when her own fiance seems to know more about the murder than he's telling. 

As the town battles an entirely unforeseen danger and Callie's very life is threatened, the stakes are as high as they've ever been and the people of Kingdom must learn anew to put their trust in God alone. 

My Thoughts: Another favorite author,Nancy Mehl, writes a fantastic novel in Unforeseeable!

I read the first two books in the Road To Kingdom series by Nancy Mehl and loved them!  So, again, I waited ever so {im}patiently for book 3.

Now Callie has a great life in Kingdom, Kansas and is engaged to Levi, the new pastor of Kingdom Mennonite Church.  

As the story begins the reader is hoping that Callie is on the road to a better life. And it seems like all is going well and, then, a body is discovered on the road outside of Kingdom. It seems that there is a serial killer in town.

Now Callie feels compelled to find the answers about the murders and it seems that her fiancee is "hiding" something from her.  Does he know more than he is telling?  The unforeseen danger of murder is like a milestone around the sweet town of Kingdom.  Can Callie help before the killer strikes again?  Especially when her own life is at risk?

What a read!  Full of light romance, mystery and suspense! 

The first two Road to Kingdom reads were great stories but this is by far my favorite!

The Candidate (A Newsmakers Novel) by Lis Wiehl (Author), Sebastian Stuart (Contributor)

My Thoughts:  I find Lis Wiehl's stories intriguing even though they aren't necessarily of christian genre.  

And with the upcoming presidential election I was interested to see if this story was about or ran parallel to what is happening in our society. (Sometimes authors write about societal happenings even though it's considered a work of fiction).

This story isn't just about politics though, it's about the Newsmakers, the second book in the series and told in the present tense.  

Oh, and it's a thriller!  And with a thriller comes a cloud of mystery.

Erica, is also one of the news makers and she feels that the candidates' wife, Celeste isn't what she seems...and what is the candidate Mike Ortiz's "real" story?!?!

Erica is one of the best, top-rated cable host so as she begins to dig deeper the stakes on her and her teen daughter's lives become higher.

An intersting and at.times.breathtaking suspenseful read.

WOW {Warm Oven Wednesday} Pumpkin Muffins

It's fall!  And these Pumpkin Muffins are a great fall treat!

Ingredients

• 1 pkg. (18.25 oz.) spice or carrot cake mix
• 1 can (15 oz.) LIBBY'S® 100% Pure Pumpkin
• 6 tablespoons egg substitute or 3 large egg whites
• 1/3 cup water
• 2/3 cup raisins
• {I added raisins & pecans)  Wonderful!

Directions

PREHEAT oven to 350º F. Grease or paper-line 24 muffin cups.

COMBINE cake mix, pumpkin, egg substitute and water in large 

mixer bowl until moistened. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds; 

scrape bowl. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in raisins. 

Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups, filling 2/3 full.

BAKE for 18 to 22 minutes or until wooden 

pick inserted in centers comes out clean. 

Cool in pans on wire racks for 10 minutes; 

remove to wire racks to cool completely. 

Store muffins in covered container.Makes 2 dozen muffins

My Review:  I love a good action/suspense novel!  And I was surprised by the action, adventure and pure suspense in Ace Collins book, The Secret of the Lost Scroll!  

WOW!  When a book begins with "Baltore the priest had no idea where they had come from.  Like ghosts, they seemed to appear out of thin air, but he was well aware that his plight was his own making." (p. 11)  then the reader knows this is going to be a one.of.those.fantastically.great reads! 

Dr. Jefferson Burke is approached by Anthony Columbo to help him find the lost scrolls.  Actually this first scene of the book where Columbo talks with Burke reminded me of the beginning of Indiana Jones . . . college history professor talked into helping find an ancient artifact for the "good of humanity."  But there's oh-so-much-more!  

I love National Treasure, so again there's a bit of that in Burke too!  Burke's life is turned upside.down! as he races to find the first clue!  

This is an incredible read with Cho and Burke having some serious soul searching as they think what would happen if they find that Joseph is the true father of Jesus! Because if one finds the truth then one has the obligation to tell the world the truth, right?  God has a way of bringing the truth to light for those who search for righteousness!  Of course, there's always a "bad guy", Krueger, the evil one who would love nothing more than spreading lies and untruths!

 I loved it and truthfully had a hard time putting this book down!  I'll be looking for more books by Ace Collins.

A Night of Great Joy by Mary Engelbreit

My Thoughts:  I love, absolutely love books and art created by Mary Engelbreit!  And what better way to celebrate Christmas than with a lovely book!

So, when I received this wonderful, hardback book with incredible pictures of children portraying the Christmas story though a Christmas pageant....I was thrilled.

The story is uniquely told using children who are in a Christmas pageant. Not only are the pictures sweet and colorful but the story is of Mary and Joseph and the Night of Great Joy when Jesus the Savior of the world was born.

When children are read a story that has wonderful illustrations and the story is the story of Christmas, in my opinion, the story will stay with them for life.

This is such a nice book but probably best for ages 4-8, to use Christmas after Christmas to tell the story of the Savior's birth!

This lovely book would also make a great gift for any child!
