Engraved on the Heart by Tara Johnson

Book Description:  Reluctant debutante Keziah Montgomery lives beneath the weighty expectations of her staunch Confederate family, forced to keep her epilepsy secret for fear of a scandal. As the tensions of the Civil War arrive on their doorstep in Savannah, Keziah sees little cause for balls and courting. Despite her discomfort, she cannot imagine an escape from her familial confines―until her old schoolmate Micah shows her a life-changing truth that sets her feet on a new path . . . as a conductor in the Underground Railroad.
Dr. Micah Greyson never hesitates to answer the call of duty, no matter how dangerous, until the enchanting Keziah walks back into his life and turns his well-ordered plans upside down. Torn between the life he has always known in Savannah and the fight for abolition, Micah struggles to discern God’s plan amid such turbulent times.

My Thoughts:  Sometimes one just doesn't know what to do or what to expect from life...such is the case of Keziah Montgomery's life.
It seems that her epilepsy is a "curse" to her and her family.  Just how is one suppose to keep episodes of seizures a secret unless one doesn't need to go anywhere.
Keziah is comfortable in her own family surroundings so when the Civil War and all that it entails comes to her doorstep, well, life changes.
And then her school friend, Micah, shows her that life can be so much more when helping others.
Micha is a doctor and when Keziah is back in his life his own plans are turned inside out.
Micah and Keziah must both seek God and learn to trust Him even when life is not what they would like.
A great historical novel that has excitement, romance and history.
