Where the Fire Falls: A Vintage National Parks Novel (Shadows of the Wilderness #2) by Karen Barnett

Book Description: Watercolorist Olivia Rutherford has shed her humble beginnings to fashion her image as an avant-garde artist to appeal to the region's wealthy art-collectors. When she lands a lucrative contract painting illustrations of Yosemite National Park for a travel magazine, including its nightly one-of-a-kind Firefall event, she hopes the money will lift Olivia and her sisters out of poverty.
After false accusations cost him everything, former minister Clark Johnson has found purpose as a backcountry guide in this natural cathedral of granite and trees. Now he's faced with the opportunity to become a National Parks Ranger, but is it his true calling?

My Thoughts:  I loved Karen Barnett's The Road to Paradise so was anxious to read her next novel in the vintage national parks novels.
This novel is about Yosemite National Park, Olivia and her sisters.  Olivia feels that it is her responsibility to take care of her sisters so when she lands a contract for the travel magazine she just knows this may be the job that takes her and her sisters out of poverty.
But you know what they say about the best laid plans . . .
When Olivia meets the park ranger, Clark Johnson, who is suppose to show her around the park.  Clark is leery of women since a woman falsely accused him and he was forced to resign his church.
But as Clark and Olivia begin to work together, love grows.  And then certain people begin to make money off of Olivia's paintings.  This is where the mystery/suspense begins.
And a great story that makes Yosemite jump off the pages.
