{Fiction Guild Blog Tour} Portrait of Vengeance (A Gwen Marcey Novel) by Carrie Stuart Parks

Book Description:  Gwen Marcey has done a good job keeping the pain of her past boxed up. But as she investigates the case of a missing child in Lapwai, Idaho, details keep surfacing that are eerily similar to her childhood traumas. She doesn’t believe in coincidences. So what’s going on here?
No one knows more about the impact of the past than the Nez Perce people of Lapwai. Gwen finds herself an unwelcome visitor to some, making her investigation even more difficult. The questions keep piling up, but answers are slow in coming—and the clock is ticking for a missing little girl. Meanwhile, Gwen’s ex-husband is threatening to take sole custody of their daughter.
As Gwen’s past and present collide, she’s in a desperate race for the truth. Because only truth will ensure she still has a future.

My Thoughts:    O.My.Stars!  I wasn't quite sure about this book when I received it but I began reading it and I couldn't put it down. It's a fast paced read.
There's mystery, then suspense, then more mystery and the suspense!
I kept reading because I really couldn't figure out who was causing all this trauma.  Plus, Gwen Marcey job as a forensic scientist just plain intrigues me.
As the story continues it seems that someone knows all about Gwen's past.  As Gwen investigates the case of this missing child it seems that many things from her past are identical to this child's.  HOW?
The big HOW question seems to haunt Gwen.
But as Gwen seems to get closer to the truth the truth seems to become more elusive.  At times I believe that I distinctly heard Gwen give a huge sigh.
But with perseverance and a mighty wave of patience Gwen with the help of some great friends does come to the truth.
A great keep you on the edge you seat read!
