Book Description: In this second book in the American Revolutionary War Adventure series, Submarines, Secrets, and a Daring Rescue, twins Ambrose and John Clark find themselves volunteering for another mission to help the newly forming United States. Inspired by their success in delivering a secret message to General George Washington himself, the boys step up to help transport much-needed gunpowder to the patriots and end up in an even more dangerous situation, trying to man one of the first submarines and then, later, attempting a prison break to rescue one of their older brothers.
Follow these brave young patriots as they follow in their father’s footsteps and rely on each other, their considerable courage, and God’s providence for guidance and strength.
My Thoughts: My middle school nephew loves stories about history. Unfortunately, it's rather difficult to find a historical story that is geared for the middle school child. So, when I came across the American Revolutionary War Adventures by Robert Skead I knew this was a winner.
Not knowing anything about this series, I picked this book, Submarines, Secrets and a Daring Rescue, which is the second book in the series. However, since I hadn't read the first book I realized that I may have missed getting to know the twins better.
But, all in all, I think each book must be a stand alone read exploring the adventure of that moment.
The twins, Ambrose and John Clark are fourteen years old and want to be like their patriot father.
In this book the twins volunteer for mission to deliver gunpowder to the patriots in the newly formed United States.
There is a lot of action and adventure that will keep the interest of any boy or girl who loves history.
Courage, faith and a love for country are the "meat" of this read.
Loved this fantabulous book. And it's such nice hardback book...great for gift giving, too!
