Drawing Fire (Cold Case Justice, book 1) by Janice Cantore

Book Description:  One case from her past defines homicide detective Abby Hart.
With a possible serial killer stalking elderly women in Long Beach, California, Abby’s best lead is Luke Murphy, an irritating private investigator who saw a suspect flee the scene of the latest homicide. When Abby discovers that the most recent victim is related to the governor, she’s anxious to talk to him about a cold case that’s personal to her—one Luke is interested in as well.

As she learns more about the restaurant fire that took her parents’ lives years ago, Abby discovers why Luke is so invested in finding the ones responsible. The more they uncover, though, the more questions they have. Can Abby find peace without having all the answers?

My Thoughts:  A cold case that Abby Hart cannot solve...the fire that took the lives of her parents years ago.  The case that haunts Abby.
And then it seems that there is a serial killer on the loose who stalks elderly/older women in Long Beach, California.  Why elderly women?
Abby is a great homicide detective but sometimes even those who excel in their jobs need help every once in awhile.
Then Abby finds out that Luke Murphy is also "looking" into the restaurant fire from years ago.
It seems, though, that there are more questions than answers in this case.  And why?  Who has gone to such links to cover up this fire?  And why does it seem to walk hand.in.hand with the stalker?
This was a GREAT read, the first book in the Cold Case Justice Series!     The way Janice Cantore writes leaves the reader a bit.breathless and hoping that the good ones prevail against the evil ones.
