Book Description: Lt. Raymond Novak prefers the pulpit to the cockpit, but at least his stateside job training B-17 pilots allows him the luxury of a personal life. As he courts Helen Carlisle, a young war widow and mother who conceals her pain under a frenzy of volunteer work, the sparks of their romance set a fire that flings them both into peril. After Ray leaves to fly a combat mission at the peak of the air war over Europe, Helen takes a job in a dangerous munitions yard and confronts an even graver menace in her own home. Will they find the courage to face their challenges? And can their young love survive until blue skies return?
My Review: Blue Skies Tomorrow by Sarah Sundin is aptly titled for this read is all about pilots, the great blue sky and how tomorrow brings another chance at happiness.
Helen is a likable character. She's down to earth and loves her son, Jay Jay, more than anything in this ole' world!
Helen has seen her share of disappointments but she clings to the hope of blue skies tomorrow. She meets Ray and romance is in the air. Ray is a great guy. He'd rather be a pastor than a pilot and gets along famously with Jay Jay but Helen has a deep rooted "secret." Sometimes pain and barriers create a canvas of nothingness that cannot be broken except when the person in pain allows God to paint the canvas with His bigger picture . . . Can Helen and Ray break the barrier and truly have a love that will last?
And then Ray is off on a combat mission and Helen takes a dangerous job. The suspense will keep the reader turning the pages!
I, also, liked the history that was incorporated into this read. Not only did I enjoy a fiction read but I learned a lot of history! Sarah Sundin creates a great love story, using her writing skills and knowledge of history to balance the art of romance with historical events!
This is a fantabulous read. So, if you enjoy reading about history with a mixture of romance and suspense then grab this wonderful read!
