This story caught my interests because it's not just about romance there's a mystery too.
Caroline Hatherleigh knows the rules of society and she follows them because she is the daughter of viscount.
But then she has the opportunity to visit south Devonshire and meets Gideon and his very ill sister her doubts begin to grow about her faith. How can she hold onto something that may not be correct. Maybe God has bigger plans for her life?
Then as Gideon hunt for fossils his sweet sister becomes gravely ill every day.
Gideon tries to hold onto all that he has and knows but when a mysterious stranger comes to town Gideon begins to wonder if he can keep his sister's secret.
There is a lot of emotion in this read. And alot knowing God through science.
It's a great read with just enough love and a whole lot of suspense to keep the reader truing the pages.

My Thoughts: First of all this is a sequel to The Angels Fell. So, if you really want to understand what is going on then it would probably be wise to read the first book.
Secondly, this is a story that has dystopian and fantasy with spiritual themes which tend to lose me. I'm not a fantasy sort.of.gal. Give it to me straight. 😊
So, with those two things being said I had a hard time with this story. Frankly, I just didn't get it.
When I picked the book I didn't read the description well.
If you are a fan of dystopia and christian/spiritual stories then this is the read for you!
There is also alot of symbolism in this read. Well, that's how I took it.
For the life of me I just didn't understand this story.
If I were "grading" this story though the author writes well and has great prose. And he puts in well thought out themes along. So, I can't fault the author...it's me! I just don't understand fantasy/dystopia.

NKJV, Sequin Sparkle and Change Bible, Silver/Gold, Hardcover: New King James Version Hardcover
I chose the New King James version which is accurate and reliable. It also contains beautifully illustrated insert pages in a style that will delight children's imaginations and include topics such as:
- Bible timeline
- information about Jesus
- Journaling for favorite Bible verses
- Bible maps
- Study helps such as how to study the Bible and how to pray
- Articles to build a child's faith, including How Do I Know Jesus Loves Me?, Bible Verses to Know, Knowing Jesus Better
However, on the down side, I was quite disappointed when I received this Bible. The front is just a gold heart. It doesn't change to silver. Maybe, because this is a hardback Bible? But the front of the Bible just isn't as pretty as I had hoped. And the font is somewhat small for a child.

An Amish Reunion: Four Stories by Amy Clipston, Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller, Kelly Irvin
My Thoughts: Four great Amish authors and four wonderful stories about Amish life.
The first story Their True Home by Amy Clipston has to do with the reunion of children all grown up meeting again. When Marlene Bawell's family has to move back to Bird In Hand, it's been ten years, and she is all grown up and so is the boy, Rudy, whom she had a crush on in elementary school. Love and a sweet relationship by one of my favorite authors.
A Reunion of Hearts by Beth Wiseman is about love lost. Ruth and Gideon were married but when circumstances beyond their control and grief has taken a toll on their marriage. Unable to get past their grief but, also, unable to dissolve their marriage they leave their families and Amish faith to find two different paths in life. So, when they are each invited to a family reunion they both believe that the other will not be there. AHA! Can their grief be mended?
A Chance to Remember by Kathleen Fuller is a fun read. A matchmaker in her eighties is surprised when a man from her past arrives in her small town. Can a matchmaker take a chance on love so late in life?
Mended Hearts by Kelly Irvin pens a somewhat sad tale of a young girls who makes an unwise decision. Even though the community all say they have forgiven her, she constantly feels the eyes of ht people are upon her as she and her daughter go throughout the community. Can love over come obstacles?
Four great short stories in one book!
And all such fantastic stories.

This soup is insanely delicious! Made with fresh ingredients and topped with shredded cheese, you will make it again and again!

Ingredients
- ½ pound ground beef (use 1 pound)
- ¾ cup chopped onion
- ¾ cup shredded carrots
- ¾ cup diced celery
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
- 4 tablespoons butter, divided
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 4 cups peeled and diced potatoes
- ¼ cup all purpose flour
- 2 cups of Velveeta processed cheese cubed (I used 16 ounce)
- 1½ cups milk
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ¼ to ½ teaspoon pepper
- ¼ cup sour cream
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in 3 quart saucepan. Drain and set aside.
- In the same saucepan add 1 T butter and add onion, shredded carrots, parsley flakes, basil and celery. Saute until tender.
- Add the broth, potatoes and beef and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 10-12 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
- In small skillet melt remaining butter (3 T) and add the flour. Cook and stir for 3-5 minutes or until bubbly. Add to the soup and bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Reduce heat to low.
- Stir in the cheese, milk, salt and pepper. Cook and stir until cheese melts. Remove from heat and blend in sour cream.

A Plain Scandal by Amanda Flower
About the Book: The people of Appleseed Creek in the heart of Ohio’s Amish Country are under attack. Soon after the dust has settled on a buggy accident that turned out to be murder, an unknown assailant begins cutting off the long hair of Amish women and the beards of Amish men.
In this small community, when Chloe discovers the body of an Amish businessman who was stabbed in the back and whose beard was cut off, she knows that finding the murderer and restoring peace to Appleseed Creek is as much her responsibility as anyone else’s.
My Thoughts: I "found" Amanda when I read A Plain Death. When book 2, A Plain Scandal came out, I grabbed it up. Amanda flower writes about an English young woman, Chloe, and her close relationship to two Amish young people-a brother, Timothy, and sister, Becky.
In fact, when Becky decides to leave her Amish roots (in book 1), she comes to Chloe almost begging to be her roommate. Chloe takes her in and is ever so glad because Becky is one fab cook! And Timothy is not so bad either! A great carpenter and easy on the eyes.
This read, A Plain Scandal, has it all. With a combination of humor, faith, romance and mystery this is one fantastic read!
This fiction read is based on real life accounts of hair cutting of the Amish women and beard cutting of the Amish men. If you know the Amish hair cutting is a sin. Something that just isn't done! But there seems to be two more mysteries going on, too. A murder and the house that Chloe and Becky reside in. Just when I thought I knew whodunit, another twist was added.
This is a most serious mystery but Amanda is able to put great humor and wit into her writing.
I would suggest that one read A Plain Death first simply because there is quite a bit about the Amish and the family that is mentioned in book 2.
Even though I really liked book 1, book 2 is absolutely great!
