Under Fire (Defend and Protect)by Lynn H. Blackburn

Book Description:  USSS Special Agent Zane Thacker has landed his dream assignment protecting the president of the United States. When the president plans a fundraiser at the exclusive estate of a political supporter in Raleigh, Zane is thrilled to be working again with Special Agent Tessa Reed, his best friend--and the woman he desperately wishes could be more.

Though Tessa almost lost everything, she battled her demons and came out on the other side healthy and healed. But when her role as the liaison between the Raleigh office and the president's protective detail wrenches her past back into the present, her greatest failure threatens to come to light.

Zane refuses to let Tessa go through this alone. But can he stand by the woman he loves and protect the president from a mounting threat at the same time?

My Thoughts:  An action packed story full of faith and love.
Special Agent Tessa Reed is quite a gal!  Full of life but, yet, soft as slightly melted ice cream.
As a special agent she is chosen to be to work with Special agent Zane Thacker to protect the president at a fund raiser.
Only Zane knows what Tessa has been through and how she has struggled to overcome.
As Zane and Tessa try do to their job many old things/memories seem to rear their ugly heads.
Guessing who the "hater" is and what he wants is a bit challenging.  It seems that the "hater" wanted revenge but really wants recognition.  Such an interesting thought in a story plot.
The romance between Zane and Tessa is sweet and not overdone.
The "hater" wants revenge from Tessa.  Tessa has a difficult time understanding what the "hater" is after.  Such a conundrum.
This is quite a story with a few twists and turns.
A great ending to a great story.

A March Bride by Rachel Hauck

Book Description:  Susanna has found her true prince, and their happily ever after is just around the corner. But when Nate asks her to give up something precious to her, Susanna can't help but wonder if it's a sign that their love is not meant to be. Susanna Truitt (Once Upon A Prince) is three weeks from royalty. She'll soon marry King Nathaniel II of Brighton Kingdom. But when the government insists she renounce her American citizenship before the wedding, coupled with the lack of involvement by family and friends, Susanna's heart begins to doubt whether this marriage is God's plan for her. Nathaniel would do anything for his bride-to-be. But he knows his position requires that she give up a lot to be with him. Her life will never be her own---right down to her very identity. When she travels home to St. Simon's Island, Georgia, right before the wedding, Nathaniel fears she won't return. Gathering his courage, he devises a plan to win his bride all over again, and together they seek out a kingdom to treasure above all.

My Thoughts:  I love weddings!  And I've had the opportunity to read three ebooks by Rachel Hauck about weddings.  YAY!

Of course, Rachel Hauck is an excellent romance writer so reading these stories is like eating my favorite chocolate with a white chocolate mocha!

Susanna is my favorite bride of the three books.  Maybe, because she is to marry and live in the Brighton Kingdom.

Susanna is in love with Nate (King Nate, that is!) and planning this royal wedding is a wonderful dream . . . and then! boom!  The Brighton Kingdom insists that she give up her American citizenship to marry the king.

Oops!  One slight inconvenience, right!?!?

Um, well, that went over like a lead ballon.

So, off Susanna  flies back home to good ole Georgia but the handsome King Nate loves his bride-to-be Susanna.  He devises a plan to make sure Susanna returns to him.

This plan was quite ingenious!  Wonder if it could really happen in "real" life?  (This is why fiction books are so much fun!)

A great fun, light read!  Loved it!

Hope Between the Pages (Doors to the Past) By Pepper Basham

Book Description:  Clara Blackwell helps her mother manage a struggling one-hundred-year old family bookshop in Asheville, North Carolina, but the discovery of a forgotten letter opens a mystery of a long-lost romance and undiscovered inheritance which could save its future. Forced to step outside of her predictable world, Clara embarks on an adventure with only the name Oliver as a hint of the man’s identity in her great-great-grandmother’s letter. From the nearby grand estate of the Vanderbilts, to a hamlet in Derbyshire, England, Clara seeks to uncover truth about family and love that may lead to her own unexpected romance.

My Thoughts:  This story intrigued me because I have visited the places that are written in this story.  So I can envision all the the author is writing about.
Pepper Basham is a new author for me. I do enjoy new authors and getting out of my reading comfort zone.
Clara Blackwell has one of the most interesting jobs in my book.  {See what I did there.😆}  I love the way Clara finds some old, forgotten love letters that lead to an inheritance.  An inheritance that is deeply needed by the heirs.
This is a somewhat rags to riches story.  The feel good kind.
But Clara has to step out of her comfort zone to find this Oliver.  Sometimes when one goes on chance adventure to seek truths more than one can ever imagine happens.  In Clara's case this is true.
Finding a person is not easy but, oh, the fun of the adventure and finding new friends in the most unexpected places.
A lovely story!

at Peace in the Storm {Experiencing the Savior's Presence When You Need Him Most} by Ken Gire

Book Description:  When you need a Savior who stills the wind.

"Here's the rub about faith. Sure, prayer often changes outward things, but the only guaranteed miracle God offers us is inner peace, the peace of Christ. A peace so crazy deep that it cannot be analyzed or understood. It descends on us even when everything else is falling apart, while the drug-addicted child does not come to his senses, or the job offer doesn't pan out, or the cancer rages and the marriage is a hollow mess. But I'll let you in on a secret. This miracle of the 'inner variety,' this inexplicable and supernatural calm in the storm, is the greatest miracle you'll ever experience."

My Thoughts: All of us are human and so, all of us will go through a "storm" of some kind in our lives.  The storms are life are not always easily handled by humans, therefore, we need a Savior who will calm the storm and help us through this storm.

On page 57, Mr. Gire gently reminds us that, "As we weather storms, trying to navigate through the darkness, our temptation is to turn our eyes not toward God's Word, but toward the raging skies."  This statement was the whole pivotal point of this read for me.  I must keep my eyes on Jesus. . . just like Peter when he saw Jesus on the water . . . when I take my eyes off Jesus I will fall.  Thankfully Jesus will be there to catch me (if I let Him).  Oh!the!love! He!has!for!me!

This isn't a point by point, do this kind of read.  This is a walk by faith, keep your eyes on the One who loves you most.  An encouraging read for when we are faint of heart.

I love the way Mr. Gire makes life with Jesus so very real.  At the end of this wonderful book we see Jesus having merriment with His friends and disciples.  Yes, sometimes we need to give ourselves permission to have fun.  The storm will not always last, Jesus will be by our side.  "I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint."Jeremiah 31:25  (end of book, p. 159)

This encouraging book would make a wonderful "card" for that special person who may be going through a storm in life.  It's also a a great read just for you to know Jesus is there for you!

Murder UnShelved: A Stitches, Perks & Pages Cozy Mystery by Vannetta Chapman

Book Description:  A fresh start was supposed to be simple.

Open the doors. Welcome customers. Build a new life.

Fox Hollow, Texas, has other plans.

Sisters Emma Dawson and Sydney Givens arrive in town ready to launch their dream business—Stitches, Perks & Pages, a quilt shop and bookstore under one roof. But before they can even begin unpacking, they find a dead body sprawled across their delivery entrance. Welcome to Fox Hollow.

The victim, Evan Pritchard, had secrets—and someone is still searching for whatever he was hiding. With danger edging closer and another murder looming, Emma and Sydney realize they can’t just shelve the problem and hope it goes away.

Luckily, Fox Hollow has a way of turning strangers into allies. With the help of a sharp-witted retired nurse, a determined Amish teen, an overachieving high school valedictorian, and steady-eyed Detective Noble Beck, the sisters may have a chance to catch a killer before their new beginning becomes their last.

My Thoughts:  Vannetta Chapman is another favorite author of mine.  She writes wonderful cozy mysteries.

This mystery takes place in Texas...one of my favorite states.

I love the title and book cover of this new read but most of all I love, love the sisters Emma Dawson and Sydney Givens!  Oh what fun to own a quilt shop and a bookstore that is until they find a dead body at their delivery entrance door!

The dead man had many secrets and someone wants to know where that secret is hidden.

Thankfully Fox Hollow is a small town with a big heart and many pitch in to help find the killer including Detective Noble Beck.  With a name like Noble the reader knows he's going to be a great help.

Vannetta Chapman writes with detailed logic and story full of surprises. This is one fantastic story you don't want to miss.

Know Your Bible Journal for Women

Book Description:  You want the most from your time alone with scripture. . .this Know Your Bible Journal for Women provides both simple guidance and ample space for you to jot down your reflections.

My Thoughts:  This is a beautiful a beautiful Bible journal.  There are six pages per book of the Bible.  First, there is a Ten words or less page.  With a sentence starter for the journalists to write about that book.THe second page is Details, Please.  A short paragraph is given to help the writer think about this book of the Bible.  The third page is Author and Date.  Again, a starter with verses is given to help the journalists.  Then the next page is a Quotable page.  Four mail quotes from that particular book are given then the journalists can write about her favorite passage.  The next page is titled Unique and Unusual.  This is a page to write about what unusual or unique things popped out to the journalists.  The last page is So What?  So what really popped out to you in this book of the Bible?
This soft cover Bible journal is a great asset to any journalists who wants to study the Bible.

Unsolved Amish Abduction (Love Inspired Suspense) by Mary Alford

Book Dscription: An anonymous letter containing her missing sister’s bracelet lures Anna Hartzler back to her Amish hometown—and into a trap set by the kidnapper she escaped years ago. She’s rescued from another abduction by Jaxson Thomas, her former neighbor turned police officer. Now Anna must depend on Jaxson to protect her and her little girl, who he doesn’t know is his child. But as the threats grow, can he keep them safe long enough to identify and catch the culprit—before this enemy sets his sights on their daughter?

My Thoughts:  Oh.My.Stars!!  Mary Alford knocks it out of the ballpark once again!
This story caught my attention from page one.  As I read it I truly could not think who the "bad" guy was.  I kept reading and reading thinking there would be a clue for me to chomp down on but, alas, nothing came to mind.
The romance is good, the suspense is out of this world and my.oh.my! the mystery of it all is bizarre to say the least.
I could not see the ending at all.  I was so perplexed. Who did this kidnapping I kept asking myself...I came up with nothing.
THIS story is literally one of the most outstanding stories I've ever read.
It is literally full of surprises at every turn.
Don't miss this story!  And best of all it isn't an expensive book...you'll love it if you're a suspense reader like me!

The Beginner's Quilt By: Wanda E. Brunstetter

Book Description:  Tomboy Emma, despite her mother's best efforts, isn't at all prepared to be an Amish wife. But when Emma visits her grandmother in Illinois, she learns how to sew a Tree of Life quilt and meets a nice young man. When rumors begin to swirl around his character, will Emma return home to Indiana broken-hearted?

My Thoughts:  I always enjoy Wanda Brunstetter's books especially the books that include Amish quilt making.  This is about a quilting a Tree of Life quilt.  An interesting quilt for an interesting story.

This story did not disappoint.  I truly enjoyed reading about Emma Bontrager, Ivan yoder and quilting.

Emma's mother is at her wit's end and sends her tomboy daughter, Emma, to Arthur, IL. Emma is a true tomboy.  Emma has no interest in marriage or household keeping and especially not quilting.  What is an Amish mother dot do with such a daughter?!?

Off Emma goes.  While at her grandmother's house she takes up quilting.  what else is there to do at grandma's house?  To Emma's surprise and delight she is quite good at quilting.  And actually enjoys it.

Then she mets Ivan Yoder.  Ohhh LAAA LAAA!

This is where the story gets interesting BUT can Ivan's reputation undo a romance that has just begun?  Even though Ivan and Emma enjoy doing outdoor activities together Ivan tells Emma about his reputation.  Can Emma enjoy being with a man with such a reputation?  She remembers how her Amish parents raised her.  What will she choose?

A grand read, for sure!

The Hawaiian Quilt by Wanda E. Brunstetter & Jean Brunstetter

My Thoughts: I love books authored by Wanda Brunstetter! And now her daughter-in-law, Jean, co-authors this wonderful novel, the Hawaiian Quilt.

This is not your "regular" Amish story.  In this lovely story about four Amish friends  who take a cruise to the Hawaiian Islands.
The cruise is nice but the beds not.so.much to the four friends disappointment.  Love the real descriptions of the ship and the "funny.to.me" reason Mandy and her three friends decide to take a cruise because their Amish parents wouldn't approve of flying in an airplane.
When Mandy and her friends decide to split up in to two groups of two to see more Hawaii and then share their experiences later at supper, Mandy loses her phone and this incident causes she and Ellen to miss the ship.
I love the Hawaiian Christian couple, Luana and Mikaio,  who take them in at the bed and breakfast and whose Hawaiian quilts fascinate Mandy.
This is not your "regular" Amish read!  It's about stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing life and God's people.
Loved, loved this fantabulous read!

Convergence by Ginny Yttrup

Book Description:  Psychology professor Dr. Denilyn Rossi contends that the past is either a shadow that haunts us or a force that propels us. The choice is ours, she tells her students. What she doesn’t tell them is that her own past is a shadow she can’t seem to shake. Fear has immobilized her and is taking a costly toll.

Adelia Sanchez, however, has embraced Dr. Rossi’s teaching. She is ready to confront fear and render it powerless—using the trauma of her past to propel her to entrap the man who stalked and brutally attacked her.

As Denilyn’s past and Adelia’s present converge at the Kaweah River, a dangerous man bent on destruction threatens them both. Will he uncover the secret Deni and Adelia have fought so hard to protect?

My Thoughts:  I was SO excited to see that another book was written by Ginny Yttrup.

I love her stories!

And this story did not disappoint.

There are two women with pasts that include alot of fear.  Two women trying to get over their past.  And both women have a secret.

Oh.my!  The twists and turns in this suspenseful read had me at chapter three.  It took two chapters for me to get into the story and "see" what was going on.  But I know how Mrs. Yttrup writes so I was willing to wade into the story.

Once the reader gets into the story there is no going back.  Kind of like the two women in the story...once they were in ..... in for a penny, in for a pound.

The reader is taken on a trip of sorts.  It's a thrill of suspense and a pondering of mystery.

Loved, loved this read so much so that I read it all cover to cover in one afternoon.
